There has been a number of exciting lipstick releases this year but I was completely distracted by the launch of Chanel Rouge Coco Shine that the other releases were pretty much put on the back burner. A few weeks ago, I met up with a couple of friends and they managed to convince me to get a Dior Addict lipstick in a shade called Red Carpet.
The Dior Addict lipsticks were relaunched earlier this year and they have tweaked the packaging a little and improved on the formula. According to Dior, these lipsticks are made with 25% less wax compared to most brands and this allows the gel formula to glide on better.
Dior Addict lipsticks are divided into three Iconic themes, which are Rock Icon, Doll Icon and Glam Icon. Red Carpet (#963) falls in the Glam Icon category and it epitomises the bold, rich colours in the collection.

I don't usually wear red lip colours because most of them tend to make me look rather fierce. I'm not talking about your American-girlfriend fierce but rather a British-school-marm type of fierce. However Red Carpet is not your typical, outlandish red lipstick. It is a muted yet vibrant red and it's a little difficult to describe. I do feel quite glamorous when wearing it and can see how it fits into those "red carpet" moments, not that I have many of those moments.
* Please excuse the snotty look, I was trying to pucker up without looking stupid... but failed. *
As the tip of the lipstick is flat and rather wide, applying a colour so red and bright directly from the tube may result in a slightly messy application. I had to use a lipbrush as it was more precise. Of course, this is not a requirement. The lighter shades in Dior's lineup can be applied directly without issues.
The texture of Dior Addict lipsticks are really wonderful. I don't even need to use a lipbalm or base below and the lipstick goes on very smooth and pigmented without emphasising any flaky bits. It lasts about 4 hours with a bit of drinking in between.
What's most amazing about the Dior Addict lipsticks are the array of colours. I believe there may be more than 50 available nowadays with new limited edition or seasonal shades being released alongside.
Pros:
• Huge selection of gorgeous colours.
• Soft and moisturising texture.
• Creamy and non-sticky formula.
• Pigmented.
• Unscented.
• Unscented.
• Good lasting power.
Cons:
• Expensive but most department store lipsticks are similarly priced these days.
• Would prefer a slimmer tip.
